Enshrinement Ceremony MOVED to Hope Hotel Richard C. Holbrooke Conference Center in Dayton

Government shut down forces National Aviation Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony out of its own Learning Center and adjacent National Museum of the USAF

51st Annual “Oscar Night of Aviation” moves to Hope Hotel Richard C. Holbrooke Conference Center in Dayton for sold-out dinner & ceremony on Friday, October 4

(Dayton, Ohio – October 2, 2013)  The Congressionally chartered non-profit 501(c)(3) National Aviation Hall of Fame (NAHF) hosts its 51st Annual Enshrinement Dinner & Ceremony on Friday, October 4.   Over 600 will be attending the sold out, black-tie event.  Enshrinement receptions were to have taken place Friday in the NAHF Learning & Research Center and the adjacent National Museum of the United States Air Force, with the formal dinner and ceremony in the museum’s Modern Flight Gallery.  Due to the ongoing federal government shut-down, which has closed down the hall of fame and the museum, NAHF officials announced today that the event will go on but will instead take place at the Hope Hotel & Richard C. Holbrooke Conference Center in nearby Fairborn, Ohio.  (Link to Directions)

“We look forward, as scheduled, to honoring our four outstanding pioneers of air and space in the enshrinee Class of 2013,” said NAHF Enshrinement Director Ron Kaplan.  “Everyone involved knows that this most regrettable situation is beyond our control, but what IS in our control is to appropriately recognize these four great Americans for their achievement, courage and service.”

The four being honored with enshrinement are the late C. Alfred “Chief” Anderson, the Father of African-American Aviation; retired Army Major General Patrick H. Brady, Medal of Honor recipient; retired Navy Captain Robert L. “Hoot” Gibson, test-pilot and NASA astronaut; and the late Dwane L. Wallace, former CEO and Chairman of Cessna Aircraft Company.  Among those participating are NASA Administrator Charles Bolden, several former NAHF Enshrinees, and numerous civil and military aviation industry leaders from throughout the U.S.

No more tickets remain for the event.  For those with advance reservations, all event times remain the same.  The Hope Hotel & Conference Center is located just outside Wright Patterson Air Force Base Gate 12A, off of Ohio State Route 444 in Fairborn, Ohio.   More information and directions are posted at www.hopehotel.com and at www.nationalaviation.org.
